Description
Rare Herbert Levine wooden platform Kabuki vintage 60s shoes. The shoes feature a unique intricate gold and black pattern silk material, and a carved wooden platform bottom. The shoes are leather lined with the gold insole embossed “KABUKI” in Asian motif. There is also a rectangle with Herbert Levine name inside, below rectangle Herbert Levine Inc. Patent Pending. Written on the inside edge of the shoe:A87 6M. Beth and Herbert Levine Kabuki style shoes can be seen in many museum collections including the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Also there are two different colors of Kabuki shoes featured in “Shoes by Linda O’Keeffe pages 474 and 475. The shoes insole has some very minor wear. Overall the shoes are in excellent vintage condition.
